We Need YOU

We need YOU to support our school and continue all of the amazing initiatives that enrich our Rideau Park school council and parent society, and we need to fill these positions ASAP!

What does school council/parent society do? We collaborate with the principal and administration on school-related matters and decisions, and we fundraise and help manage these funds throughout the school year. Funds are used for the purchase of various items benefiting the students - including library books, sports equipment, instruments, and special residencies. For example, we have recently provided funds for new furniture for classrooms and a renewed Learning Commons. Nearly $30,000 was raised to support initiatives at the school. This would not be possible without the fundraising, donations, and volunteer commitment of parents. On behalf of the School Council and Parent Society, we thank you!!

If you would like to be involved in the decisions that affect our school and get to know your school community better, please consider volunteering for one of the vacant positions on School Council or Parent Society. If interested, please attend our School Council and Parent Society Annual General Meetings scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, beginning at 6:00 PM. Alternatively, email us before the AGM at rppassociation@gmail.com.

Whether you are interested in volunteering for a School Council position or not, please join us for the AGM. All parents are welcome and encouraged to come. It is a great way to learn more about the school, meet other parents, and most importantly, help shape the school’s future.

Finally, we would like to thank all the teachers and administrative staff for their amazing work this year. Their hard work and dedication are what make Rideau Park School such a special place.

One way parents/guardians can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on our school’s parent society. Parent societies are a formal group of parents, incorporated under the Societies Act for the purpose of raising funds for the school. A society is a separate legal entity from the school council. More information can be found in our CBE Administrative Regulation 5001 – School Councils and School/Parent Societies.
