Volunteer Orientation Presentation – Thank you!

We had a fabulous turnout for our Volunteer Orientation presentation this morning, which filled our Learning Commons. Our wonderful Assistant Principal, Ms. Jackie Cochrane, led discussions around volunteer possibilities within the school, on field trips and in support of our Rideau Park Parent Association (RPPA) activities. We view our Rideau Park school families as members of our team! Your participation in these gatherings reinforces the strength of our relationship and helps to keep communication open.

Terry Fox Fundraising and Assembly – parents are welcome to attend on September 23.

RPS Terry FoxOur grade 3-4 team is leading the organization of our annual Terry Fox Assembly and Run this year. Families are welcome to join us, starting in the gym at 10:45am. From there, our younger students will run laps in the school field while older students (grades 3 and up) will run along the Elbow River Pathway towards Stanley Park.

Terry’s Marathon of Hope started in 1980 as a humble ask for every Canadian to donate $1.00 for cancer research. While his goal was achieved, sadly he did not survive to finish his run. At Rideau Park School we are proud to continue this legacy of community giving in support of cancer research in Canada. Last year we raised over $3000 in just one week… let’s see if we can beat that and achieve our new goal of $4000.

Truth and Reconciliation Week – September 21 – September 25

The  CBE  acknowledges Truth  and Reconciliation  Week  each  year in  alignment  with  the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. Truth and Reconciliation week invites all CBE staff, students, and families to engage in meaningful learning, reflection,  and action.  To advance the CBE Education  Plan Goal: Truth & Reconciliation, our classrooms will engage in developmentally appropriate learning about the importance of acknowledging Orange Shirt Day and recognize the importance of creating safe, caring and welcoming spacesfor all students in our schools.

Orange Shirt Day – September 29 – parents are welcome to attend

Our grade 1-2 team is proudly leading the organization and planning for our Orange Shirt Day assembly. Please join us on Tuesday September 29 at 10:45am in the gym.

Everyone is invited to wear orange on Orange Shirt Day (it doesn’t have to be a shirt!).

RPS Every Child MattersWearing orange on Orange Shirt Day honours Survivors of residential schools, remembers the children who never returned home, and acknowledges the lasting impacts of residential schools on families and communities. The orange shirt is a symbol of the culture, language, identity, and freedom that were taken from Indigenous children, and a reminder that Every Child Matters.

To maintain a consistent and supportive environment that fosters high expectations for all students, it is important to ensure that families and students are familiar with some key policies and procedures that are in place across the Calgary Board of Education. Reminder: Annual Student Health Plan – Medication at School

If your child has a health condition that requires medication to be taken while at school or that may need to be taken while at school (i.e. EpiPen), a Student Health Plan form will need to be completed and submitted to the office. Any medication that needs to be taken at school must be labelled and for student safety, stored securely in the office, unless specific safety planning requires that it remain with the student. Gym Strip – Top Marks and Spirit Wear – Summarized Designs

The fall ordering window for our Rideau Gym Strip supplier, Top Marks, is open from September 7 – September 16. To view the catalogue of items and place and order, use the following link: https://topmarks.ca/

All students in Grades 7 to 9 are required to change into a gym strip for PE classes. We

suggest the following for a Junior High gym strip:Rideau Hoodie Grey

  • Rideau Park T-shirt (required)
  • Rideau Park shorts or jogging pants (required)
  • Rideau Park hoodie (recommended)

Summarized Designs will be our supplier for our Rideau Park School spirit wear again this year. This new vendor complements our fall offering of gym strip by making Rideau Park “R” logo t-shirts and other active wear gear available throughout the year.

Rideau Park Parents Association – School Council Update

RPPAThank you to our School Council and Rideau Park Parents Association (RPPA) for working tirelessly to enrich the learning environment at Rideau Park School for all students.

We look forward to welcoming returning and new attendees to our School Council & RPPA meetings. Our first meeting of the year will take place on Wednesday Sept.16 at 6:00pm, in person

in the school Learning Commons.

Hot Lunch Returns for 2026-2027 - Healthy Hunger is Back! 

Parents, do you want to support Rideau Park School AND pack one less lunch every other week?Healthy Hunger, Fun Lunch, Fundraising

Healthy Hunger, hosted by the Rideau Park School Council and Parent Association, offers delivery of lunches to the classroom every other Thursday!

Our first Fun Lunch will be held Thursday, September 10.

  • Orders must be submitted on the Saturday BEFORE the lunch
  • Order lunch by lunch, or multiple dates in advance

Volunteers Needed!
