Hello Rideau Families!

We had another busy and productive week of learning at Rideau Park School. We have some important updates to share with you as we are entering into a busy December season.

Winter Concert! – Dec 10,2025 (6:00pm – 7:00pm); Grandparents’ Dress Rehearsal (10:30am)

 Our K-6 and 7-9 Band Winter Concert is quickly approaching, in the spirit of community support, Rideau Park will be collecting non-perishable food donations for The Calgary Food Bank.

Please deposit any physical non-perishable food donations in the boxes as you enter the concert. Further, if your family would prefer to provide a monetary donation, please use the QR codes and follow the prompts. This code is included here if your family wishes to donate early.

Grandparents’ Dress Rehearsal

Due to limited seating for our evening performance, there is an open dress rehearsal at 10:30am that is open for any grandparents or extended family to attend. The dress rehearsal will also have our Junior High Students in attendance, but we will keep the front open for our family audience.

Evening Procedures

  • Students need to arrive by 5:45pm and report to their appropriate classroom. Students will not be allowed to roam the halls once they have checked in with their teacher. There will be no supervision available before that time.
  •  If your child attends Summit After School Care, the parent/guardian is responsible for signing them out.
  • Concert is to begin promptly at 6:00pm.
  • Audience members are asked to remain seated for the entire concert as leaving mid show is disruptive to the performance.
  • We expect the concert to end by 7:00pm
  • Dress code: gr K-5 (“winter best”); gr 6-7 (all black)

Reminder – Scented Products

Lately, we are noticing some inappropriate use of colognes/perfumes/body sprays such as excessive application or spraying products at others or inside classrooms, in particular among students in our Junior High cohort. We do have individuals in our building with allergies and/or sensitivities to these products. Additionally, inappropriate use is disruptive to the learning environment. We will address any situations where students are intentionally abusing products and will follow up with conversations home as needed.

Western Canada High School Open House – January 27, 2026

Western Canada High School will be hosting an Open House opportunity on Tuesday, January 27th from 3:30-5:00 pm for current grade 9 students/families who might be interested in learning more about the school’s option programming (prior to guidance visits and course selection in February). Grade 9 Tours for direct feeder schools will take place earlier that day, as well, so many students will also be able to visit the school in that capacity. More information about course programming for 2026/27 will be available on the WCHS website after the winter break. Any general questions about registration can be directed to the main office at 403-228-5363. Thank you.
