Hello Rideau Families,
Pink Shirt Day – Leadership Student-Led Assembly
We are so proud of our community-wide Pink Shirt Day assembly that took place this week. Thank you to all our gr7-9 Leadership students, student representatives from homerooms, and in particular to teachers Ms. Redwood, Mme. Ford, Ms. Koshynsky and Ms. Dockrill for making sure the assembly ran smoothly.
Pink Shirt Day reinforces the importance of sustained, whole-school approaches to bullying prevention and student well-being.
CBE defines bullying as repeated, persistent behaviour intended to cause harm, fear, or distress. Effective prevention helps students distinguish between conflict, mean behaviour, and bullying, while strengthening relationships and belonging. When we work with students who are struggling, the focus always remains on learning, and we maintain a careful lens on individual student development and areas of ongoing growth. We appreciate our collaboration with parents to support our students and reinforce expectations for safe and caring behaviour.
Crochet Club – What a Turnout!
We had over 50 students across Grades 1–9 show up for Crochet Club this week, and Ms. Dockrill is happy to work with all interested students. Ms. Dockrill has around 20 hooks available and we know that some students will bring their own. However, we are in need of more. We would love to accept any donations of crochet hooks and yarn — thank you for your support!
Reminder | Grade 4 and Grade 7 Alberta Assurance Survey
Students have been given time to provide important feedback about their experience at school through the provincially mandated Alberta Assurance Survey. This is an annual survey to gather important information about students' and parents' school experiences and will help to inform continuous improvement in our education system. Survey participants will be asked about various topics, including:
- Creating welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environments
- Student learning engagement
- Parental involvement in children's education
Parents or guardians of Grade 4 and 7 students should have received an email from School Improvement containing a link to the survey, along with a unique Random-Access Code and detailed instructions. We encourage all eligible parents and guardians to participate and share their feedback.
