Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for Friday, March 14, in the afternoon for junior high teachers only.  For all teachers, the dates are Thursday, March 20 – afternoon & evening and Friday, March 21 during the morning and afternoon.  The conference booking system is open to book an appointment with your child/ren’s teachers.

Parents are reminded that the system can provide language interpretation services for almost any language so that all parents can have an opportunity to speak with their child/ren’s teachers.  The language interpretation service is available for the virtual appointments next week.

To book an appointment, log into MyCBE.

Contact the office if assistance is needed to book an appointment and/or if you have a question about the language interpretation service.

Last Call - Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found is overflowing the overflow bins with items such as shoes & boots, hats & mittens, sweatshirts & jackets, reusable lunch containers & water bottles. We will be clearing the lost and found at the end of this week.  Ask your child to take a look if they have any lost items.  Parents are also welcome to look at school dismissal or drop off times.

Library Books Returned by March 17

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Spring Break is approaching

Student library books are due

…by Monday March 17, please

Ms Lane is looking forward to seeing the mountain of books in the return bin next week. After Spring Break, our new KidPower self-checkout will be operational so that students can check out books more independently.

Assurance Survey

Each year Alberta Education conducts the Alberta Education Assurance Survey with students in Grades 4, 7 and 12 and their parents.  All teaching staff also complete this survey. Alberta Education uses the Assurance Survey as a way for school authorities to measure their success and assess their progress towards meeting their learning goals.

Grade 4 & 7 students have completed the survey during class time. Parents / Legal Guardians of children in grade 4 and 7 will have received their codes to log in to the online survey via system messaging. Your voice matters. Your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving.  The Assurance survey closes on March 21.

Inter-school Athletics: Volleyball Update

Our teams have been playing fabulously all season long and as we approach the semi-finals and championships this week and next, we want to share the great news about how the season of play has been going.

The Junior Girls team, coached by Ms Redwood, placed fifth overall in their division.  These girls represented us so well throughout their season.  Congratulations on a great finish.

The Junior Boys team, coached by Mr Long, won their semi-final match and will be playing in the divisional championship vs John Ware on Monday, March 17.  (This is also St Patrick’s Day and it's our team who will be wearing the lucky green uniforms. Could this forecast a lucky result, too?)

The Senior Girls team, coached by Ms Wegg, played their semi-final match on Thursday against John Ware and they won!. Their division final will be played at home against Elboya's team on March 19.

The Senior Boys team, coached by Mr Ball, played their semi-final match against Elboya on Wednesday evening.  The Senior Boys will play in the Consolation Final against Harold Panabaker on March 19.

Late Student Pick-ups from the Office

Recently, Mr. Robertston messaged families to request that students are not picked up from school to leave early after 3:15 pm. Kindly consider picking up your child before 3:15 pm or please wait until our 3:35 pm dismissal time.

We are renewing this request this week, as we are still experiencing a high volume of student pick-ups close to dismissal time.  When teachers are finishing up the day with students, it can be very disruptive to the art project clean-up, science lab materials put away, securing Chromebooks, and other routines that happen during the last 15 – 20 minutes of instructional time.  Our front office is also finishing up tasks for the day, often time sensitive tasks.  We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain optimal learning experiences and an efficient front office.

Labour Action - CUPE strike

The CUPE labour action is ongoing. For more detailed information, refer to the news story on our website.

2024-25 Yearbook

MyCBE is ready to take 24-25 yearbook orders.  The total cost of the yearbook, including tax, is $37.  As we have had a late start with yearbook sales, we are hoping to push sales for the remainder of March and into April.
