We’d like to welcome Ms. Patty Numan to our school as Acting Principal. She will remain at Rideau Park while Mr. Robertson is away. Ms. Numan has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and system principal in CBE. Please join me in welcoming Ms. Numan to Rideau Park. Reminder | School Dress Code

With the weather warmer spring–summer weather approaching as early as next week, families and students are reminded of the dress code posted on our school website:

As part of the expectation of courtesy and respect, all staff and students are required to adhere to reasonable and respectable standards in dressing and grooming for a focused working and learning environment. Clothing worn by staff and students needs to facilitate comfortable interaction within the school community. Dress should be modest, appropriate for the school setting, and conducive to a safe environment. (CBE Policy 6010) The above guidelines work to reflect the focused working and learning environment at Rideau.

Please note the following:

  • Shoes must be worn at all times for health and safety reasons. Please ensure that they are dry and clean before entering the school. If shoes are wet or dirty, please remove them and wear an inside pair.
  • Outdoor clothing and footwear are to be kept in your locker.
  • School staff has the ability to determine what is not appropriate clothing and students may be asked to change into gym strip if they fail to comply.
  • If it is deemed that apparel is inappropriate, students will be asked to wear their gym attire for the day.

Dressing for the Weather

Students must come to school wearing the appropriate clothing for the weather. Often school activities and events require you to be outside.

For bullet 3 above, if a student’s clothing is upsetting to someone or makes someone feel uncomfortable, the student may be asked to change into different attire.

2024-25 | Ordering Gym Strip & Sprit Wear, May 10 – 24

Top Marks has a variety of sizes for students in Grades K – 6 who may want to order a Rideau Park T–shirt, sweatshirt or some of the other items available.

Specific ordering information and requirements for PE are posted on our website linked HERE.

Book Drive | Little Red Reading House, May 6 - 16

From May 6 through 16, we will be holding a book drive to support Little Red Reading House Book Bank which promotes literacy for young children and emerging readers.

“Help feeds the hearts and minds of children with their very own books. Because more books in homes means better reading scores at school and more children who will grow to love reading. We get books into the hands of children who would love to own their very own!”

What types of books to donate?

  • New or like-new books for children aged 0 – 8
  • Children’s books with literacy building qualities
  • Please keep in mind that the books you are giving will become another child's treasure. Only give books that are of high quality and in very good condition (either new or like new). We cannot accept books that are tattered, scribbled on, written in, or missing covers.

How?

  • Each classroom will have a drop-off bin where book donations can be accepted.
  • Main office will also have a bin to accept book donations.
